When it comes to game day entertaining, I only have one thing on my mind- the big game snack spread. I usually don't care much about who is playing who, or even who ends up being the champions in the end. I am there for one thing & one thing only- the food, folks.

Of all the game day recipes I have posted to this blog over the years, I have never once posted a sliders recipe.... that is, until today. And I have no clue why it has taken me this long! 

I mean, sliders make the perfect football food. They fit in one hand leaving one hand free for making gestures of victory or disgust during the game. ;) 

You can pack a ton of flavor into these tiny burgers. And they are perfectly snack-sized so you that can save room for the other game day goodies being served like hot wings and chips & dip. That is game day food perfection in my books, folks.

And those pulled pork sandwiches were inspired by the Banh Mi pork sliders I made with some of my fellow food bloggers while attending the Pass the Pork tour in Minnesota in September of that same year.

Yes, I get into the game (most of the time), but it doesn't matter to me if the home team is winning or losing just as long as there is good food being served.

So, who all is looking forward to the big game this coming weekend? I have to admit that I have never been much of a professional football fan. (My husband, on the other hand, happens to be a whole other story. But only when a certain team that sports the black & gold is playing. ;) )

Buffalo sauced foods are pretty much a staple in my house all year round, but even more so when football season rolls around. I mean, what is a game day menu without something Buffalo sauced? 

Wings and Buffalo flavored dips are my usual stand-by's for game day feasting, but I decided to take my Buffalo sauce game up a notch or two by giving a classic southern appetizer an unexpected spicy kick. 





I soaked fresh sliced okra in egg and then coated them in a traditional cornmeal breading, fried them up golden brown & crunchy, and then tossed them in a foolproof homemade Buffalo sauce- game day perfection, folks!

Up until a couple of months or so ago, okra was one of those vegetables that I hadn't cooked with much, and was I actually a little intimidated by it. It wasn't until my aunt started growing fresh okra in her garden that I realized just how easy and versatile this vegetable is. 





It grows like crazy, so you can easily freeze quite a few batches to use in gumbos, jambalaya, or to simply bread and fry throughout football season and well into the winter months. Which is a good thing because I have a feeling that these Buffalo Fried Okra are going to be requested quite often for game days this season. 

These crunchy, spicy nuggets of Southern goodness are perfectly poppable and absolutely irresistible! 

Sweet & Spicy Fruity Dipping Sauces {for Meatballs}

When it comes to hosting a get-together for the big game (or games), I often like to rely on easy recipes that can feed a crowd no matter what their taste preferences are and that also happen require very little prep on my part. I mean, who wants to be stuck in the kitchen the entire time and missing all the big plays? Not this game day hostess! I have a bracket to keep up with, you know. ;)

That is why I am loving this recipe for Sweet & Savory Fruity Dipping Sauces for meatballs. I like to use frozen and fully cooked meatballs, so all I need to do is heat up the meatballs (Easy, peasy, right?). Now, please don't think that I am one of those gals who is a sports hater. That is far from the truth.

I am just not much for professional sports... except for baseball.  And maybe hockey- but that is just for the fights. ;)

I am all about college football though, folks.  LOVE college football season.

Football always means pizza in this house. One of our favorite frozen take home & bake pizzas are the DiGiorno Rising Crust pizzas.  They are better than delivery & faster too! These pizzas bake in around 20 minutes- the delivery guy usually takes at least 30 minutes, usually more on game day. Am I right? ;) Plus, you really can't get any fresher than hot from the oven!
