Summer Blog Challenge, Day 44- Words of Wisdom to My Babies...

Today's Summer Blog Challenge is to write about the one piece of advice that you would want to tell your child... or in my case, children.
I did not come by these words of wisdom easily.  They were hard learned by a very stubborn, and maybe not so confident me.  I know that I cannot simply just say these words to my son and my daughter and expect them to absorb this knowledge, to internalize what they mean.
I know it is going to take me and my husband showing them, telling them, and teaching them every single day of their young lives until they know it themselves deep within their own hearts...

You are your own happiness.  Your happiness is not contingent on getting that job, making this much money, or getting married to that perfect person.  You can never be truly happy in your life until you are truly happy with yourself.  Everything thing else~ that job, that paycheck, the spouse, children~ are just frosting on the cake.  But YOU are the cake.

  1. Excellent reminder about not being dependent upon other people or things for happiness. That's a hard one to learn...even as an adult. Helping a child learn that early on is such a gift!

  3. I think this is a great piece of advice. Many adults should be aware of this as well.

  4. This is so great ~ my husband's advice was the same. It's so true though. I wish we could really absorb this.

  5. Great advice, I will have to remember this post. Thanks so much for sharing and I am a new follower! I am visiting from the GFC Hop over at The Life of a Not So Ordinary Wife!
Hope you are having a great weekend!

  6. I love this! :) Totally agree. I'm still learning this, myself.
