I don't know about you all, but we are finally enjoying some warmer weather & sunshine here in my neck of the woods. And warmer weather means that summer is just around the corner. And the arrival of summertime means hosting lots of BBQ's & outdoor get-togethers for our family & friends!

Inviting friends & family over for a little cookout in the backyard is probably one of my favorite things about summertime.

My husband usually grills some hot dogs or smokes a couple of racks of ribs while I have a second tasty main dish simmering away in my slow cooker. We'll throw down a few friendly games of corn hole, and then we'll light the fire pit for s'mores making once the stars come out.

Whenever I am planning my next family summer get-together, my local Sam's Club is always my first stop. I can buy everything that I need for feeding a hungry crowd there all while saving both time & money... :)

On my most recent trip to Sam's Club, I spied these tasty Hillshire Farm Cheddarwurst Smoked Sausage Links & had to toss them in the cart. Sure, I could have just grilled them & slapped them into bratwurst buns, but then I spotted the Ball Park Tailgaters Crustini Buns and recipe inspiration struck. How about some sliced sausage sandwiches instead?

I sliced and browned the Cheddarwurst and then added them to my slow cooker with some sliced jalapenos, onions, & our favorite beer. Can I just tell you all that this dish made my kitchen smell amazing after just a couple of hours of slow cooking?

I whipped up this super quick & easy Avocado Jalapeno Mayonnaise for these sandwiches using the Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise that I also picked up at my local Sam's Club. You literally only need 3 ingredients & few minutes to make this tasty flavored mayo! You can make it a day ahead of time & simply store it covered in the fridge until you are ready to use it.

I put together a little self-serve station complete with the Crustini buns, the avocado jalapeno mayonnaise, & the slow cooked sausage slices for assembling sandwiches so that my guests could just help themselves.

A few tips for hosting your next backyard blast with these Slow Cooker Jalapeno & Beer Cheddarwurst Sandwiches...

  • I loved the jalapenos in this recipe because they paired perfectly with the smokiness of the sausage links. But if you would prefer to dial down the spiciness a little, use more mild peppers in this like bell peppers or poblano peppers.
  • Feel free to add other toppings to your sandwich station like fresh jalapeno slices, plain Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise, & sliced cheddar cheese.
  • If you have a few extra minutes, toast the buns. I simply heat a little olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat & toast the two bun halves for 1-2 minutes.
