For the past few months, I have been making a conscious effort to get to the gym more, to get back into my yoga practice, & to really pay attention to just what it is that I am putting into my body.

Call it a gradual epiphany of realizing that I really needed to focus a little more time on bettering myself & my health following my divorce. Once the dust had settled & my world had calmed down a little, I was finally able to get back to me.

And it isn't just about getting back to a healthier version of myself for me. It is also about becoming the best version of myself for both my son & my daughter. Sometimes having to start a new chapter in your life will inspire you to make the changes for the better that you have been putting off.

One of the first steps I took when I decided to take back charge of my health was to incorporate more healthy smoothies into my diet.

Smoothies are a fantastic & easy way to pack in most of your daily requirements of fresh veggies & fruits. I usually start most of my mornings each week with a vitamin & protein packed green smoothie

I had been alternating between two different flavor combos with my green smoothies lately, but love to throw in a little something new here & there.

That is why I was so excited when I first found out that my friend Erin from Delightful E Made was about to publish her very first ever cookbook- The Protein Smoothie Bible. With 60 delicious & healthy smoothie recipes to choose from, my morning smoothie routine was sure to never get boring or stale again.

And since I have been challenging myself more & more with both my gym workouts & with my yoga practice, I have found that I often feel pretty sore most evenings now. That is why Chapter 5 of the Smoothie Bible, Road to Recovery, has become my go-to for new smoothie inspiration lately.

This chapter contains 8 beautifully photographed smoothie recipes that naturally boast both anti-inflammatory & healing properties. Erin created each of these recipes with muscle recovery & maximum nutrition in mind so you can be ready to go for that next big workout.

My favorite so far has been her Blueberry Almond Chia Smoothie. Bursting with fresh blueberry flavor, this creamy & delicious smoothie gets a protein packed punch from Greek yogurt, almonds, & chia seeds. It has become my new go-to on mornings when I feel especially sore from the previous day's workout.

The Protein Smoothie Bible has 8 chapters of smoothie recipes to choose from. From creamy breakfast blends to green smoothies to meal replacement, you are sure to find a smoothie (or two!) to meet your needs.

She has even dedicated an entire chapter to just kid friendly smoothie recipes that encourage the kiddos to get in the kitchen & start blending!
