Peppermint Mocha Cocktail Cake {Guest Recipe from Cooking with Curls}

Good morning all! I may be just a *tad* excited about Birthday Week on the blog. ;) Just a little...
First up is my good pal Lisa from Cooking with Curls.  This lady is known for her bundt cakes (which you all know I pretty much adore), but she is also known for making cocktails INTO bundt cakes! (Better yet, right?? ;) )
When she heard that Peppermint Mochas are my fave Starbucks beverage, it was a no-brainer for her to turn it into a cocktail bundt cake in honor of my birthday.  Thank you, Lisa! It looks amazing!

Hello everyone! My name is Lisa Johnson, and I am the curly haired chef behind Cooking with Curls. My blog is entirely devoted to cooking all-natural, preservative-free family meals. As you can probably guess by the name of this cake.....I also like to have fun!

My cakes are baked from scratch. My burgers are made with grass-fed beef. Pizza is probably my favorite food group, and yes, I do make my own dough. But no need to worry, I give step-by-step instructions with photos to make it easy for you to follow along. I am so incredibly lucky to have "met" Carrie early on in my blogging career, she is the absolute best! I wish I could be there to help you celebrate this weekend, but I am much too far away. So instead I am sending you my happiest wishes for the best birthday ever, and you should definitely bake yourself this cake.....or make someone else do it for you ;) This Peppermint Mocha Cocktail Cake is a deep, rich, chocolaty cake with all the flavors of Carrie's favorite espresso drink.....and mine! It is a dense cake, with a kick from the Peppermint Schnapps and Kahlua. So go ahead and click on the link below to get the recipe.

 Happy Birthday Carrie!!! Thanks again for allowing me to be a part of your celebration Carrie :) photo UtensilLogoButton150x182_zpsbcfebf41.jpg

Let Me Pintroduce You Party #5 {With a Bonus Bloglovin Link Up!}

Good morning everyone!!  Jaime from Mom's Test Kitchen and I are so happy to have you here for our fifth Let Me Pintroduce You Party! :)
Make sure you spread the word about the party- the more the merrier, right??

Jaime and I originally brainstormed the idea for a Pinterest linky party when the two of us were emailing back and forth one day after discovering how much of our blog traffic was a direct result of some of our recipe posts being pinned and then repinned and repinned again on Pinterest.  We thought why not host a monthly Pinterest party? And thus, Let Me Pintroduce You was born!

We have decided to add a special Bloglovin linky seeing as how Google Reader just announced it's July 1st exit.  So after you have linked up your Pinterest accounts below, be sure to scroll down a bit and add your Bloglovin link as well! Just remember to give your hosts and co-hosts a follow. ;)

*Just a note- there will not be a Let Me Pintroduce You Party in June or July.  We will be taking a little summer break, and returning on the last Friday in August with a whole new party!  Have fun this week, make some new Pinterest friends, and HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER, FRIENDS! :)

This month's co-host is...
So, how does the Let Me Pintroduce You Party work?  Easy!

  • Try to follow at least two other Pinterest accounts that have linked up and maybe repin a few things that catch your eye while you are at. ;)
  • Grab our button above and slap it on your sidebar or your party page on your blog.  Help us spread the word!
  • Be sure to link up your main Boards page of your Pinterest account only, not individual board pages or individual pins.
  • Then hop down to the Bloglovin linky & do the same!
  • Send out a tweet & let the Twitterverse know that we would like to Pintroduce them to everyone!

Apple Crisp {A Guest Recipe from Cooking With Curls & a Giveaway!}

Hi, I'm Lisa from Cooking with Curls. I am so excited to be joining you today! Carrie is an absolute doll, I am so glad that I met her during the Spiked! Recipe Challenge. I cannot thank her enough for this opportunity, and all of the guidance that she have given me over the past month :)

 I am a stay at home mom with two amazing kids. We are originally from California, and moved to Iowa almost 14 years ago. Culture shock does not even begin to explain how incredibly different our lives are here. Whenever I am upset or stressed out, I start cooking. Feeling completely isolated in a strange place..... I started cooking a lot! As a result, I have finally found my passion..... a love of cooking! I started my blog in November and I have loved every minute of it. When you come visit me, you will find recipes that include family favorites like Sheep Herder's Pie, restaurant re-creations like the Bistro Burger, and a lot of cakes baked with alcohol like BAILEYS Kiss Cocktail Cake. All of my recipes are made from scratch, with lactose-free / dairy-free options, and have easy to follow instructions with step-by-step photos! Apple Crisp is one of those family favorite recipes and I have been making this one for as long as I can remember. Here is a collage of the steps and the recipe... photo PicMonkeyCollage_zps88874585.jpg

~Apple Crisp~ 4 cups cored, sliced granny smith apples (about 4 medium) 3/4 cup brown sugar, lightly packed 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened (plus extra for the pan) Directions: Heat oven to 375 degrees. Butter an 8 x 8 x 2 baking dish. Set aside. Stir brown sugar, oats, flour, and spices together in a large bowl. Mix in the softened butter to form a crumbly topping. Set aside. Core and slice your apples (mine are also peeled, I'm just weird that way) Place the apple slices in your prepared baking dish. Sprinkle topping mixture over the apples. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes until the apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream.
