A big thank you to Hamilton Beach for partnering with me today to bring you all this recipe & for sponsoring the giveaway.

I don't know how it is for you all the week of Thanksgiving break, but it is about to get pretty busy over here in my house. Both of the kids will be off from school the entire week starting Monday, and we also happen to host my family's Thanksgiving dinner each year.

Let's just say that delicious & easy make-ahead breakfasts become my next best friends from here on through to the New Year. ;)

I always seem to have no problem getting the house cleaned and dinner guest ready (oh yes, I put the kiddos to work since they are off from school). And I always get the turkey day menu set and planned out at least a week in advance. But I always seem to neglect Thanksgiving morning breakfast.

I mean, I have enough going on with getting the turkey in the oven, and starting a few sides in my slow cooker, and getting the table set, and the list goes on. But not this year! This year I will be whipping up a batch of this hearty and creamy Chai Tea & Pear Oatmeal in my brand new Hamilton Beach® Professional Sous Vide and 6 Quart Slow Cooker

I can get this oatmeal going the night before, and it is ready to serve by morning no matter what time everyone ends up rolling out of bed. It cooks all night in a precise temperature-controlled water bath, so every bite is perfectly cooked and absolutely creamy.

Now I am not knocking making overnight oatmeal in your slow cooker, but we all know that it never cooks 100% evenly. The outside edges are always a little overcooked, while the middle ends up a tad soupy. But with the sous vide method, every single bite is perfect! :)

prep time: 10 min cook time: 10 hours total time: 10 hours & 10 min

ingredients:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 medium pear, chopped
  • 1 chai tea bag
  • Pinch of salt
  • Chopped walnuts or pecans, brown sugar or maple syrup, for topping & sweetening

instructions:

How to cook Chai Tea & Pear Oatmeal

  1. Fill your Hamilton Beach® Professional Sous Vide and 6 Quart Slow Cooker with warm tap water to slightly below the MAX line. Place the rack inside and cover with the lid. Press the On/Off button. Set the temperature to 155 degrees using the up arrow. Press TEMP/TIME and select a cooking time of anywhere from 6 to 10 hours. Press the START button to start heating the water.
  2. While the water is heating, add the oats, water, pears, the chai tea bag, and the salt to a ziploc gallon sized bag. Seal, pressing out as much air as possible. Using your hands, squeeze the bag to mix the contents of the bag.
  3. When the water has heated to the desired temperature, the unit will beep 3 times and the START/CANCEL button will start to flash. Set the bag of oatmeal into the rack, place the lid back on, and then press the START button.
  4. When you are ready to serve, remove the ziploc bag from the water bath, discard the tea bag, squeeze the bag a few times to mix, and then evenly squeeze or scoop the oatmeal into 4 separate bowls. Serve with chopped walnuts or pecans for topping, and brown sugar or maple syrup for sweetening.
  5. Enjoy!
